Glubokoye Cherry Festival hosts visitors from all over the world
An International “Cherry Festival” was held in Glubokoye from July 18 to July 23.
Glubokoye has been known as the cherry capital of Belarus for a long time. Small fruit gardens can be found practically in every homestead. And three years ago locals planted an actual cherry grove at the town’s gateway, with around fifteen hundred trees within it’s territory
This year traditional competitions, workshops and tastings were accompanied by a new tradition called “The Cherry Wedding”. The standard marriage registration during the holidays is turned into a thematic one.
The festival is four years old and it has already gained some fame abroad: this time visitors from Georgia, Latvia and Lithuania came to visit. For a few days, everything here becomes berry-flavored: cherries are baked and stewed, people dedicate poems, songs and even dance numbers to them.
“Plissa” health resort gladly entertained guests of the festival.
